Privacy Policy for FocoCare
Effective date: 2026-06-17 · Last updated: 2026-06-17
FocoCare (“FocoCare”, “the app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a focus and symptom tracker for adults with ADHD, published by Tilek Sulaimanbekov. We built FocoCare to be private by design. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app does and does not process, why, and the choices you have.
By using FocoCare you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Summary (the short version)
- No account, no sign-up. You can use FocoCare without giving us any personal information.
- Your health entries stay on your device. Your focus, energy, and medication logs are stored locally on your iPhone and are not transmitted to us or anyone else. In this version, FocoCare does not sync your entries to any cloud or server.
- We use privacy-first, anonymous analytics (TelemetryDeck) to understand, in aggregate, whether the app is useful — for example how often people complete a check-in. These analytics never include your focus, energy, medication, notes, or dates.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, use advertising identifiers (IDFA), or track you across other apps or websites.
2. Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials, because FocoCare has no accounts.
- We do not collect your precise or coarse location.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or health records from Apple Health.
- We do not use cookies or third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We do not use Apple’s Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and therefore do not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we do not track you.
3. Your health and tracking data (stored on your device)
When you complete a daily check-in, FocoCare stores the following on your device only, using Apple’s on-device database (SwiftData):
- Your focus level (a 1–5 scale)
- Your energy level (a 1–5 scale)
- Whether you took medication (yes / no / not applicable)
- The date of the entry and the time it was created or last edited
This information never leaves your device through FocoCare. We cannot see it, we do not receive it, and it is not backed up to our servers. It may be included in your device’s standard encrypted backups (e.g. iCloud Device Backup or an encrypted Mac/Finder backup) if you have those enabled — that is controlled entirely by your own Apple/iOS settings, not by FocoCare.
Deleting the app deletes this data from your device.
4. Reminder settings
If you turn on the optional daily reminder, FocoCare stores your reminder preference and chosen time locally on your device (in standard app preferences) and schedules a local notification on your device. This information is not sent to us. You can turn the reminder off at any time in the app’s Settings, or disable notifications for FocoCare in the iOS Settings app.
5. Analytics we collect (TelemetryDeck)
To understand whether FocoCare is genuinely useful and to improve it, we use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service operated by TelemetryDeck GmbH (Augsburg, Germany). TelemetryDeck is designed so that we receive only aggregated, anonymous usage statistics.
What we send. FocoCare sends a small number of anonymous “signals” that describe app usage, not your health data. Specifically:
- That a check-in was started.
- That a check-in was completed, together with a rough duration bucket (for example “under 15 seconds”) — never the exact time.
- That a check-in was edited.
- That an insight was shown.
Along with each signal, the TelemetryDeck SDK includes standard technical context such as your app version, iOS version, device model, and device language/region, plus a session indicator used to estimate retention.
What we never send. We never transmit your focus levels, energy levels, medication status, entry dates, the contents of any entry, your name, or your email. There is nothing in our analytics that identifies you personally.
Anonymization. TelemetryDeck does not use cookies and does not build advertising profiles. Any user identifier used to distinguish sessions is processed in an anonymized (hashed) form, and IP addresses are not used to identify you. TelemetryDeck does not track users across other apps or websites.
Where the data is processed. TelemetryDeck processes data on infrastructure located primarily in the European Union, and may use sub-processors in other regions (including the United States) under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. For details, see TelemetryDeck’s own privacy policy at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy/.
You can opt out of analytics — see “Your choices and rights” below.
6. How we use information
We use the limited, anonymous analytics described above only to:
- Measure whether people return to the app and complete check-ins (retention and completion rates).
- Understand whether the check-in is fast enough to use.
- Decide what to improve.
We do not use any information to advertise to you, to profile you, or to make automated decisions that affect you.
7. Legal bases for processing (GDPR / EEA & UK users)
Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, our legal basis for processing the anonymous analytics described in Section 5 is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding and improving the app, balanced against your privacy. Because the data is anonymous and minimal, the impact on you is very low. Your on-device entries (Section 3) are not processed by us at all.
8. Data sharing and disclosure
- We do not sell or rent your information.
- We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
- The only third party that processes any FocoCare data is TelemetryDeck, acting as our analytics processor as described above.
- We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, but the anonymous nature of our analytics means there is no personal data about your health to disclose.
9. Data retention and deletion
- On-device entries and settings: retained on your device until you delete them in the app or delete the app. We do not control or retain copies.
- Analytics signals: retained by TelemetryDeck in aggregated/anonymized form according to their retention practices. Because these signals are anonymous, they cannot be tied back to you for deletion of a specific person.
10. Your choices and rights
- Opt out of analytics: You can turn off anonymous analytics at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy → Anonymous analytics. When turned off, FocoCare stops sending any analytics signals.
- Stop reminders: turn the reminder off in Settings, or disable notifications in iOS Settings.
- Delete your data: delete entries in the app, or delete the app to remove all local data.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection) or under US state laws such as the CCPA/CPRA (to know, delete, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” — note that we do not sell or share your personal information). To exercise any right or ask a question, contact us at the address in Section 15.
11. Children’s privacy
FocoCare is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will address it.
12. Security
Your entries are stored within the app’s protected, sandboxed storage on your device and benefit from iOS device encryption. Analytics are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we minimize risk by collecting as little as possible — ideally nothing that identifies you.
13. International users
FocoCare is available in multiple regions. If you use the app outside the country where our analytics processor stores data, your anonymous analytics may be processed in the European Union and other regions under the safeguards described in Section 5.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the app or on our website. Your continued use of FocoCare after an update means you accept the revised policy.
